Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy in a Patient With Primary Hepatic Angiosarcoma

Abstract: Primary hepatic angiosarcoma was diagnosed in a 59-year-old woman who presented an arthralgia of limbs and dry cough for 6 weeks. Physical examination revealed digital clubbing. A 99mTc-MDP bone scintigraphy showed diffusely increased uptake along the cortical margins of long bones, suggesting hypertrophic osteoarthropathy.

“…3 FDG PET/CT findings of hepatic angiosarcoma have been described in several cases with hypermetabolic masses. [3][4][5] Angiosarcoma of the abdominal aorta, skin, spleen, breast, and heart also showed intense FDG activity. [6][7][8][9][10] However, this case indicates that hepatic angiosarcoma does not necessarily present with increased FDG activity than the normal liver, and it should be taken into consideration as one of the possibilities in multiple hepatic masses with mild FDG activity.…”
