Die häufigsten Ursachen für die Entstehung einer Hyperthyreose sind die Immunthyreopathie Basedow sowie die Schilddrüsenautonomie. Für die Diagnosestellung sind die Bestimmung der TSH-Rezeptor-Antikörper (TRAK) nebst Thyroidea-stimulierendem Hormon (TSH), freiem Thyroxin (fT4) und freiem Trijodthyronin (fT3) wichtig.
