AbslrseL A simple model of the hypertriton is presented. The lamMa particle is taken to orbit an unperturbed deuteron in a lambda4euteron potential based on a separable lambda-nucleon potential. Acalculation of R = r(iH -~-+ ~H e ) / r ( i Hn-+ X) finds R = 0 . 3 3 5 0 . 0 2 in agreement with the apetimental value of R = 0 . 3 5 5 0 . 0 4 . The hypertriton lifetime due to mesonic decay is found to be r ( i H ) = 2 . 3 2 x 2.
