Hypersensitivity to Aeroallergens in Patients with Nasobronchial Allergy

Abstract: Background:Aeroallergens are the most common causes of allergy.Aim:The aim of this study was to determine hypersensitivity to aeroallergens in patients with nasobronchial allergy. Methods:This retrospective population study included 2254 patients with nasobronchial allergy, from late adolescents to adults. Their response to aeroallergens was assessed by skin prick tests. Results:More patients had rhinitis (72.7%), than asthma (27.6%). Although majority of patients were female, allergy is more common in men than… Show more

“…A few other studies also have reported insects as the most common offending allergens in patients with nasobronchial allergy (5)(6)(7) Another study with a relatively smaller sample size (50 subjects) has reported House dust mite as the commonest allergen (78%) followed by dust and other insects (8) . In our study, the most frequent individual offending allergen was house dust mite (27.25%) which is consistent with the findings of Balaban et al (9) . House dust mite is known to be a common cause of allergy worldwide (10) .…”

“…Balaban et al in their study conducted on 2254 patients in Bosnia, reported weed pollen as the most frequent pollen allergen, among which ragweed was the commonest. (9) The wide disparity in the findings of various studies may be due to differences in the indigenous plant population at the places of study.…”

“…Tbx21 protein is a Th1 (T-helper1) transcription factor, which regulates one of the Th1 cytokine expression, interferon-gamma (IFNG). In 2004, a nonsynonymous SNP rs2240017 (His 33 Glu) in the TBX21 gene was linked to improvements in bronchial hyperresponsiveness or "bronchoprotection" in response to ICS in individuals participating in the Child Asthma Management Program (CAMP) cohort [152]. This finding was also observed in an independent Korean cohort in 2009 [153].…”

“…Allergen exposure is the major factor impacting sensitization and constitutes the most common cause of asthmatic exacerbations in adults and children. A wide variety of inhaled allergens may trigger asthma symptoms, for example, house dust mite [32], pollens [33], cockroaches [34], and animal fur [35]. Respiratory tract infections have been implicated in asthma occurrence and exacerbation as well.…”

“…Epitopebased vaccines have outstanding approach compared to the conventional ones since they are specific in nature, able to avoid unwanted immune reactions, having power to generate long lasting immunity, and are practically cheaper in price. Epitope based peptide vaccine design method is to develop vaccines for various disorders, for example, malaria, 5 common krait toxin 6 and zika virus.…”
