Hyperfine splitting effects in string hadronization

Abstract: We revisit the recipe for hadron formation in the Lund string hadronization model. Given an incoming quark or quark-diquark pair, weights for hadron formation are updated to take hyperfine splitting effects arising from the mass difference between $$\mathrm {u,d}$$ u , d -type and $$\mathrm {s}$$ s -type quarks. We find that the procedure improves the description o… Show more

“…This has a somewhat more complicated κ dependence and also have uncertainties related to the so-called popcorn model as described in [24]. We decompose it as three different parameters, ξ = αβγ with different κ-dependence, where β is related to the probability to have a qq fluctuation in general in the popcorn model which is independent of κ and is treated as an independent parameter, while γ is related to the masses and scales as γ → γ = γ 1/h , (23) and α is related to the different di-quark states with an indirect dependence on ρ, x, and y…”

“…A thorough, but slightly dated, review is given in ref. [20], and a number of recent papers on Lund strings presents the model in a more modern context [15,[21][22][23], including our original paper on rope hadronization [24].…”

“…In recent years, in a series of papers, G. Gustafson, L. Lonnbland and collaborators have proposed to assume the color quark -antiquark dipoles as the diffractive eigenstates [32], with the energy evolution and interaction between these dipoles being described in terms of the Mueller's dipole model [50]. Such promising approach is currently being updated and improved [51]. Here we will consider an alternative description of the diffractive eigenstates and for the interaction between the different configurations of the hadronic structure.…”

“…Recently another model called string shoving model was proposed to describe the longrange correlation in high multiplicity pp collisions [7]. This model introduces a repulsive force between flux tubes so that the flux tube expands both longitudinally and transversely.…”
