“…The increase of the polycondensation time allowed enhancement of the molecular weight of estolides up to Mw¯ values of 62.6 kg mol −1 (Table ; Figure S10, Supporting Information). However, dispersity increased dramatically (Đ > 4) indicating the occurrence of side reactions such as etherification …”

“…For these reasons HBP have replaced dendrimers in many applications, and are now commonly used in various fields of application, including therapeutics, drug delivery, coatings, and as rheological or curing agents [3,4,5,6]. Recently, interest in the synthesis of the bio-based hyperbranched polymers has quickly grown as the logical consequence of the success of green chemistry in the polymer field [7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14]. However, to our knowledge, synthesis from lignin degradation products feedstock has yet to be reported.…”

“…There are two common methods for the preparation of HBPET. One is self‐polycondensation of AB x ‐type ( x ≥ 2) monomer, and the other is polycondensation of A m ‐type monomer and B n ‐type monomer ( m ≥ 2 and n > 2) . Normally, a conventional hyperbranched polymer (CHP), characterized with short repeat unit length, has a compact branching architecture with peripheral functional groups.…”

In contrast, a kind of segmented hyperbranched polymer (SHP) with long linear segments possesses a sparsely branched framework.…”
