To examine the infl uence exerted on the degree of hydrogenation and hydrogenolysis by the content of olefi n (diolefi n) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons at different fractional compositions of distillate mixtures, joint hydrotreating of vacuum gasoil with benzine and light and heavy coking gasoils was performed. The study was carried out in a laboratory installation under a hydrogen pressure of 5.0 MPa, temperature of 375°C, volumetric fl ow rate of raw materials of 1 h -1 , and H 2 /raw material ratio of 1000/1. The effect of the composition of raw materials and process conditions on the chemical composition and quality parameters of the resulting products was demonstrated. It was shown that a pronounced competition between olefi n and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in hydrogenation reactions is observed for mixtures of heavy vacuum gasoil and light coking gasoil, in contrast to mixtures of straight-run diesel fraction and light coking gasoil.

“…The degree of activity of sulfur compounds in hydrogenolysis reactions is different and decreases in the following order: mercaptans > sulfides > thiophenes > benzothiophenes > dibenzothiophenes. At the same time, the most difficultly hydrogenated compounds of the thiophene series are concentrated mainly in heavy fractions boiling above 330°C [6][7][8][9]. It is characteristic that the quality and depth of diesel fuel hydrotreatment, the cleaning process as a whole, is determined by the interaction with hydrogen of a relatively small amount of hardly hydrogenated organic sulfur impurities, while easily hydrogenated components have already undergone hydrogenolysis.…”

In this article, I want to introduce new methods for calculating the hydrodesulfurization process of diesel fuel. Mathematical models for the interpretation of the feed stock and reaction rate constants for multicomponent systems are considered. Taking into account these models, the operation of industrial reactor blocks of hydrotreatment units is analyzed and new options for their prospective implementation are presented. It has been shown that these options will make it possible to reduce the amount of catalyst in the reactors.
