“…The SEM, tunneling electron microscopy, HRTEM analysis methods are used to characterize the asphaltene aggregates on surfaces. The effects of different parameters such as oil solvent type and temperature on the precipitated asphaltenes from oil have been studied using these techniques by different researchers . In the SEM studies, two different morphologies including compact structure and porous structure have been observed .…”

“…Crocker and co‐workers reported the performances of NiAl LDH (NiAl layered double hydroxide catalyst), 20 wt% Ni/Al 2 O 3 and 20 wt% Ni/C catalysts in the DCX and DCN reactions of stearic acid at 300°C for 1.5 h (Table ) as a function of the atmosphere composition (N 2 , 10 vol% H 2 in N 2 or H 2 ) . The 20 wt% Ni/Al 2 O 3 and NiAl LDH catalysts gave 81% and 73% of conversion of stearic acid, respectively and 57% and 52% selectivities to n ‐heptadecane respectively, when the reaction was carried out in the presence of pure hydrogen, which was much higher than the performances observed under N 2 with respective values of 9% and 10% in conversion, respectively and 38% and 13% in selectivities, respectively.…”

“…It is well known that the catalytic performances of the supported species can be tuned depending on the properties of the support used, which is obviously the case of metal‐based catalysts . Various supports such as SiO 2 , Ce 2 O 3 , Al 2 O 3 , CrO 3 , and TiO 2 , C, basic composite oxides, bifunctional acid–base oxides (ZrO 2 ), and zeolites were studied on DCX reactions.…”

“…It may significantly improve the quality of refined oil by hydrodesulfurization, hydrodenitrogenation, hydrodeasphaltenization, hydrodemetallization and decomposition of heavy components. The refining catalysts for the petroleum-based heavy oil are well developed and presented in the literature [30][31][32][33]. However, different from petroleum, the crude pyrolysis oil from municipal wastes contains a lot of non-hydrocarbon components in rich of nitrogen and oxygen.…”
