“…Dypvik () also describes sill‐related geochemical changes in Triassic strata 100 m away from a 55 m thick sill. Haile et al () identify sill‐related hydrothermally induced diagenesis in Triassic rocks on Wilhelmøya, N of Edgeøya, at a distance more than five times the sill thickness. Polteau et al () explore and model how HALIP could have been a significant catagenic event in the northern Barents Sea area.…”

“…Recently available data from Wilhelmøya (Haile et al 2018) show limited impacts of chemical compaction (burial diagenesis), explaining the friable sandstone in the Wilhelmøya area (Worsley 1973).…”

“…Earlier studies of magmatic intrusions and their effect on porosity evolution and diagenesis of reservoir rocks have come to contrasting conclusions (e.g., [14,15,[122][123][124]). The diagenetic processes of sandstone reservoirs are likely to be controlled by the initial composition of the sand, original pore water composition, content of neighboring lithologies, burial and thermal history, and timing of cementation relative to accumulation of petroleum [17,47,82].…”

“…Haile et al [14] concluded in their work at Edgeøya (Svalbard) that conductive heat from intrusions did not seem to have affected the diagenetic products in the area. However, at Wilhelmøya (Svalbard) there is evidence suggesting that hydrothermal fluid flow originating from sills has affected the chemical transformations [15]. In a study of sandstones at Traill Ø (East Greenland) it was concluded that a combination of conductive and convective heat from magmatism enhanced the diagenetic process [16].…”
