“…Unlike the silicates, which exist exclusively in tetrahedral sites, germanates can adopt a variety of four-, five-, and six-coordinate environments. , They also have a tendency to form large multinuclear units with complex structures. Despite these interesting structural properties, they are relatively unexplored relative to the silicates, except as potential new open-framework analogues to zeolites. , Interestingly, vanadium germanates also form a series of unusual compounds whereby the vanadium and germanium ions can act as both building block and coordinated metal ion. …”

“…We have obtained the Eu Addition of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic organic molecules such as 2,2ʹ-bipyridine into composition of coordination compounds of germanium(IV) with citric acid can modify its properties. Similar compound with tris(oxalato-O,O')germanate anion (Hbipy) 2 [Ge(C 2 O 4 ) 3 ] has been isolated after a mild hydrothermal synthesis and its structure has been elucidated [11]. The chelate [GeCl(bipy)(HCit)]·2.5CH 3 CN has also been synthesized by the reaction between the adduct [GeCl 4 (bipy)] and citric acid in acetonitrile solution [12].…”
