Hydrothermal Syntheses, Crystal Structures, and Characteristics of a Series of Cd−btx Coordination Polymers (btx = 1,4-Bis(triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene)

Abstract: Four novel cadmium-btx (btx = 1,4-bis(triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene) coordination polymers [Cd(btx)(2)(NO(3))(2)](n)(1), [Cd(btx)(2)Cl(2)](n)(2), [Cd(btx)(SO(4))(H(2)O)(2)](n)(3), and [Cd(btx)(S(2)O(7))(H(2)O)](n)(4) have been prepared by hydrothermal reaction (140 or 180 degrees C) and characterized. Both 1 and 2 have two-dimensional rhombohedral grid structures, 3 possesses a two-dimensional rectangular grid structure, and 4 displays a three-dimensional framework, which is formed by btx bridging parallel layers… Show more

“…[1][2][3] To establish these classes of materials, many factors including solvent, temperature, different kinds of bases, pH value of solution, and the coordination preference of the metal ions should be considered. [4][5][6][7][8] However, the selected ligand is one of most important factors, since its functionality, flexibility, symmetry and the non-covalent forces such as hydrogenbonding and π-π stacking could significantly influence the self-assembly of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). 9 Multicarboxylate ligands have been proved to be excellent candidates to construct this class of functional materials owing to their diversified coordination modes.…”

“…Comparing to neutral and dianion of H 2 biim, the compounds constructing from Hbiim À are comparatively rare [14][15][16][17][18]. In addition, Cd(II)-containing coordination polymers have attracted extensive interests of us due to the amiability to bond with different donors simultaneously, the large radius, various coordination modes and potential applications in catalysis, fluorescent materials, NLO materials and so on [19]. On the basis of above results, we intend to chose 2,2 0 -biimidazole as organic ligand combining Cd(II) ion to construct helical coordination polymer.…”

“…The complex is red shifted compared to the emission wavelength of H 2 A exhibits a broad emission band from 400 to 525 nm (k max = 453 nm). These emissions may be assigned to the ligand to metal charge-transfer bands (LMCT) [16]. Complex 1 may be a good candidate in blue-light emitting materials, since it is thermally stable and insoluble in common polar and non-polar solvents.…”
