Hydrophilic polymer embolism and associated vasculopathy of the lung: prevalence in a retrospective autopsy study

Abstract: Hydrophilic polymers are commonly applied as surface coatings on vascular devices and have been shown to dissociate during endovascular use, causing hydrophilic polymer embolism (HPE).
