Hydrolytic Stability of Ethoxylated Sulfonates

Abstract: This paper discusses the reactions that are responsible for the decomposition of alkyl ethoxylated sulfonates under reservoir conditions. Experimental results are presented to substantiate the derivation of several kinetics equations. The equations form the basis for a rna t hema tical mode 1 capable of predicting the lifetime of an ethoxylated sulfonate at· all reservoir temperatures, salinities and brine pH.
