Hydrology Simulation of Ukud River in Lati Coal Mine

Abstract: Development of mine pit and overburden disposal has caused dynamic changes in the catchment area of Ukud River, one of the rivers that flow through Lati Mining Operation. The maximum discharge of the river reached 13m 3 /second and the catchment area occupied a total area of 1901.7 hectares. Since the mining operations started, the river discharge fluctuations have changed considerably. In addition, the catchment area that was dominated by overburden disposal area contained sulphide minerals that potentially d… Show more

“…There is a wide technological gap between Theodolite and Total Station so that it differentiates the processes, procedures, time, and results of the measurement. Both theodolite and Total Station are mapping tools and their products are vital in earth surface work such as hydrology 8) , geology, geoinformatics, construction, city planning, and other purposes. In the case of the stake-out measurement using Total Station, a surveyor needs less effort rather than using both digital and analog theodolite.…”

“…Indonesia's mining industry is developing at a very rapid because it is one of the mainstay sectors for the national and regional economy (Abfertiawan et al, 2016;Fahruddin et al, 2020). However, the increasing number of mining activities creates a problem, which is pollution by mining waste in the aquatic environment.…”

“…Therefore, AMD that forms in the overburden or waste rock pile is difficult to resolve, requiring expensive chemical treatments ( Kuyucak, 2002 ). AMD generation is a highly complex process influenced by several factors, including mineralogy, hydrology, geology, and local climate conditions ( Abfertiawan et al., 2016 ; White et al., 1999 ). AMD has a low pH value of 2–4 ( Abfertiawan et al., 2016 ; Bigham and Nordstom, 2000 ), which can lead to various other environmental problems, such as increasing concentrations of and metals, such as Fe 2+ , Al 3+ , and Mn 2+ ( Abfertiawan et al., 2016 ).…”
