Hydrogen production and photocatalytic activity of g‐C3N4/Co‐MOF (ZIF‐67) nanocomposite under visible light irradiation

Abstract: Herein, cobalt (Co)‐based metal–organic zeolitic imidazole frameworks (ZIF‐67) coupled with g‐C3N4 nanosheets synthesized via a simple microwave irradiation method. SEM, TEM and HR‐TEM results showed that ZIF‐67 were uniformly dispersed on g‐C3N4 surfaces and had a rhombic dodecahedron shape. The photocatalytic properties of g‐C3N4/ZIF‐67 nanocomposite were evaluated by photocatalytic dye degradation of crystal violet (CV), 4‐chlorophenol (4‐CP) and photocatalytic hydrogen (H2) production. In presence of visib… Show more

“…In addition, the hybrid of MOF materials and g-C 3 N 4 is also a good approach to develop novel photocatalysts. For example, Devarayapalli et al [ 141 ] reported a g-C 3 N 4 /ZIF-67 nanocomposite and obtained a 2084 μmol g −1 H 2 production, which is 3.84-fold greater than that of bare g-C 3 N 4 .…”

“…This method has been successfully used to obtain titania since 1990, 13 and it is also an effective synthesis method to produce zeolites 14 and coordination polymers 15 with a shorter reaction time. 13 Moreover, some studies have already reported the synthesis of ZIF-67 with microwave-assisted heating, [16][17][18][19][20][21] but only one study reported the use of a solvothermal method as shown in this present work. In the mentioned work N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) was used as the solvent, and the precursor solutions were mixed by ultra-sonication, and microwave-heated at 150 1C for 30 min.…”

“…The crystal size of the peak (001) reduced significantly after doping from 28.1 to 24.6 nm, leading to the enhancement of dissociation density and lattice strain, beneficial for catalytic performance (Table 1). For bare ZIF‐67, the peaks at 7.48°, 10.59°, 12.89°, 14.99°, 16.59°, 18.26°, 22.29°, 24.79°, 25.69°, 26.89°, 30°, 30.59°, 31.39°, and 32.69° ascribed to ZIF‐67, 36 respectively. On the other hand, the Z‐67/Ni‐V sample showed peaks corresponding to ZIF‐67 and Ni(OH) 2 .…”
