Abstract:Hydrogen-Induced Phase Decomposition of Ba 7 Al 13 and the Crystal Structure of Ba 2 AlH 7 . -The title compound reacts with hydrogen (7 MPa) to form BaAlH 5 and Al between 373 and 553 K. In the temperature range 553-603 K, Ba7Al13 is hydrogenated to Ba2AlH7 and Al. Further increase of the temperature leads to the hydrogen-induced decomposition of the title compound into Ba2AlH7 and BaAl4.
