Hydrogels With Nanomaterials Integrated for 3D Bioprinting Technology

Abstract

Different hydrogels produced from the extracellular matrix have been used in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine to create implantable scaffolds and tissues. Even though these hydrogels have a lot of potential for the healthcare industry, typical bioinks made of ECM hydrogels have several drawbacks, most notably the inability to have the mechanical qualities needed for the 3D bioprinting process. In this study, the authors primarily covered recent developments in 3D bioprinting technology for creating tailored tissues and monitoring systems using nanobioinks and nanomaterials. They emphasized the synergistic advantages of incorporating several nanoparticles into ECM hydrogels and using 3D bioprinting technology to impose geometrical features. Additionally, they spoke in detail about important problems that still need to be resolved, like the uneven dispersion of nanoparticles and the ensuing technological and practical difficulties in creating intricate three-dimensional structures using nanobioinks and nanomaterials.
