Abstract:The high content of oxygenated compounds present in the biomass constitutes an important drawback to transforming it into a suitable alternative of chemical entities. In this sense, hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is an important reaction for the cleavage of the strong C−O bond. Herein we report our findings about the use of Pd/C and CaH2 system for the HDO of several aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes and ketones.
