“…For hydroponics plants, Samijayani et al [73] constructed an IoT-WSNs platform in agriculture with Hydroponic plants. Plant development is increasingly dependent on the availability of water and the surrounding environment.…”

“…The framework showed an example applied to a hydroponic room of vegetables for monitoring and controlling several physical variables (e.g., temperature, humidity, CO 2 , air flow, lighting and fertilizer concentration, balance and pH). Samijayani et al [12] implemented wireless sensor networks with Zigbee and Wi-Fi for hydroponics plants. The networks are used by the Zigbee-based transceiver in the sensor node and the Wi-Fi-based gateway in the coordinator node.…”

“…The proposed system collects 13 types of strawberry growth environment data, whereas the environmental information monitored in the previous related works [5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13] consisted of two to eight types. By collecting more environmental information compared to the related works, it is possible to access more diverse methods when analyzing the growing environment.…”

“…Several protocols have been described in the bibliography for the deployment of WSN in precision agriculture (PA) [11,12]. Zigbee is one of the most commonly used technologies in recent years with positive results [13][14][15][16][17][18], although it is claimed that ZigBee communication has the problem of short distance, complicated networking and high communication frequency [19]. From the experience of our research group in previous installations, in which we deployed WSNs with Zigbee nodes [20][21][22][23], we found significant drawbacks such as the high maintenance required by the nodes, the difficulty of programming the Zigbee stack, the high price of the software licenses and the limited availability of microcontrollers that supported this stack.…”
