Hybrid Tamm-cavity modes in photonic crystal with resonant nanocomposite defect layer

Abstract: Hybrid optical modes in a one-dimensional photonic crystal with a resonant nanocomposite defect bounded by a metallic layer are studied. The nanocomposite consists of spherical metallic constituents, that are distributed in a dielectric matrix. Transmittance, reflectance, and absorbance spectra of this structure, which is shined by light with normal incidence, are calculated. The possibility of control of the hybrid modes spectral characteristics by changing the thickness of the layer adjacent to the metal, th… Show more

“…In the visible and NIR wavelengths, Elsayed et al, investigate the optical characteristics of a one-dimensional dielectric PhC covered with silver, as well as nanocomposite layers. He demonstrates that due to a change in the phase of the reflectance of the silver/nanocomposite/1D-PhC, the peak positions dip towards longer wavelengths [72,73]. From a practical point of view, the effects of VO 2 on 2D TMDs semiconductors like molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) are similar to those reported by Basyooni et al, [74].…”

“…TP resonance showed high sensitivity and quality factor in the optical sensing techniques of PC structures. 24–28 For the above-mentioned reasons, we try in this research to make a TP resonance/1D PC sensor to detect the concentrations of salt solutions in water. It is known that the salt level in the saltwater can be specified and indicated by the level of NaCl which, in turn, indicates the most predominant substance in salt water.…”
