Research has confirmed that F2F conferences generate significant benefits for destinations, communities, industries and economies. In addition to the immediate economic effect of a contribution to the visitor economy of the destination, F2F conferences build knowledge economies and networks, driving industry innovation and trade and investment. There has also been significant criticism of F2F conferences, particularly in terms of their negative environmental impacts, inequity of accessibility, and the ineffectiveness of traditional event design. The travel barriers associated Covid19 pandemic disrupted F2F conferences and accelerated the global move to online conferencing. While F2F attendance is returning, there is a growing trend for conferences to offer both modes of attendance; the hybrid conference is becoming the norm. Drawing on recent literature and a survey of international delegates, this study explores the advantages and disadvantages of both F2F and online modes of conference attendance and discusses ways in which we might leverage better outcomes from hybrid conferences in order to maximise outcomes for all stakeholders.

After the COVID-19 pandemic, governments obligated travel restrictions that negatively affected the international hotel industry. The events industry is also destructively influenced by the epidemic. However, the hybrid method has become popular. However, in Egypt, there is a significant gap in studying hybrid events during the epidemic. The researchers found that there are no previous studies that investigated hybrid events in Egypt during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of the current study is to investigate the role of hybrid events in reviving the Egyptian hotel industry after the COVID-19 pandemic. The data was collected using in-depth interviews through phone calls, with 18 managers responsible for organizing events in five-star hotels in Egypt. The researchers analysed data depending on qualitative analysis. The results identified the facilities, practices, opportunities, and challenges of hybrid events, and distinguished the future trends. The study revealed that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected the events industry in Egypt. The most crucial practices are committing precautionary measures, allowing only 50% of the hall's capacity, and decreasing the number of participants. The hybrid way prevents the hotel from incurring losses regarding the cancellation of the events. The major challenges are the deficiency of face-to-face interactions and the need of providing well-equipped halls. The study recommended that hybrid events will be more dominant in the events industry based on political and health changes. Several implications, limitations, and future research suggestions are provided.

In this paper, we investigate how virtual co-creation workshops can be conducted. Therefore, sharing experiences with virtual collaborative methodologies is interesting to support researchers, designers, students, and professionals interested in innovation. Thus, the workshop serves as an illustrative case to convey our knowledge of this growing phenomenon, so it is intended to share an experience of design and evaluation of an experiment in virtual co-creation workshops aiming to contribute to the collaboration design for Place Innovation. We found that some challenges must be considered when planning co-creation workshops virtually, especially for Place Innovation, among them: the participants' ability to deal with modern technologies, internet connection, time zones, and languages to be adopted. In this way, we suggested one script to plan co-creation virtual at three stages: pre-workshop, execution, and post-workshop, as well as the tools and techniques that the researchers and designers could use in each phase of this journey. Some recommendations are related.
