Hybrid MUSIC Dolph–Chebyshev algorithm for a smart antenna system

Abstract: This paper presents practical design of a smart antenna system based on direction-of-arrival estimation and Dolph-Chebyshev beam forming. Direction-of-arrival estimation is based on the multiple signal classification algorithm for identifying the directions of the source signals incident on the sensor array comprising the smart antenna system. The smart antenna system design involves a hardware part, which provides real data measurements of the incident signals received by the sensor array. This paper presents… Show more

“…In general, the antenna pattern has two or more lobes: the lobe which has the biggest radiation intensity is called the main lobe and other lobes are called side lobes. In order to control the null steering and suppress the radiation intensity of side lobes, PSO algorithm is applied to the pattern synthesis of the linear array [4] and the Chebyshev algorithm is applied to the pattern synthesis of the rectangular array [5], which can obtain the best side lobe radiation intensity when the main lobe radiation intensity is fixed.…”

“…At the AP, a uniform linear antenna array (ULAA), which consists of a series of antenna elements, is assembled for collecting arrived signal phases difference, that is, the steering vector from IP-based CIR estimation. AOA will be obtained by analyzing the steering vector via multiple signal classification (MUSIC)-based spectrum estimation algorithm [14]. The position of the wireless terminal is finally estimated by geometrically combining the estimated TOA and AOA information.…”
