Abstract: Accurate models for pulsed sieve tray extraction columns (PSEs) depend on the correct prediction of the drop diameter to estimate extractive mass transfer across the phase boundary. Phenomenologically, the drop diameter is determined by a balance of drop breakage and coalescence.
