Hybrid Approach for Detection and Recognition of Vehicles

Abstract: On road vehicles have increased in numbers and monitoring them is a challenging task. In common areas of public crowd people and vehicles are common objects for monitoring. The proposed system aims at detecting number plate information indicating the possibility for security relevant issues. Existing system performs recognition mainly by using license plate alone. Addition of the features (logo, colour, shape) will increase the security of the system. Identification of the number plate region has been done by … Show more

“…Selvanayaki, K.S et al [3] proposed a hybrid approach for detection and recognition of vehicles. The approach gives favorable results in videos of cars recorded in good lighting conditions to overcome the limitation of systems unable to do video processing but bad weather conditions and poor lightning was still a problem.…”

“…Sometimes, more than one of the existing methods are integrated into fault diagnosis for complicated systems, which is called the “hybrid approach” [3]. For example, fault diagnoses of engines are analyzed in different combination of the above methods in references [29,30,31]; diagnosis and recovery for a team of unmanned vehicles are discussed in references [32,33], and detection and recognition of vehicles are studied in references [34].…”
