The projectile points known as Fishtail or Fell represent a specific design associated with the earliest hunter-gatherers of the Pleistocene-Holocene transition in South America. Brazil was traditionally considered as a marginal area of their distribution because in the past there were only a small number of findings known, often inadequately documented. In this paper we present a general and unified overview of the Brazilian record, including previously unpublished metric, technological and stylistic features. Also, we report on new findings of fishtail points in order to expand the amount of information currently available. Some issues related to these records are also evaluated by comparing them with data from the Uruguayan plains and the Argentinean pampas. The general picture that emerges after this analysis shows a growing record of fishtail projectile points in southern Brazil, demonstrating a significant presence of these early paleo-South American populations.

A pergunta "a quem interessa o passado?", realizada há alguns anos, levou-nos a repensar que o conhecimento produzido sobre o passado era compartilhado para além dos muros científicos, incitando a inclusão de vozes, por vezes dissonantes, sobre o que, durante muito tempo, chamamos de "nosso" problema de pesquisa. Contudo, ao descentralizarmos os lugares de fala, também escapanos a decisão sobre os objetos de pesquisa, suportes preferenciais de nosso pensar. Pretendo tratar da minha experiência recente de compartilhamento de interesse sobre o passado entre os Laklãnõ Xokleng no estado de Santa Catarina. Ao longo do artigo, trarei exemplos das múltiplas ações e esferas nas quais essa busca contemporânea do passado pelos Laklãnõ Xokleng tem se manifestado, e, afinal, como esta Arqueologia no presente pode permear-se por novos nexos e assim engajar neste processo social. Palavras-chave: Laklãnõ Xokleng; Arqueologia Colaborativa; Arqueologia do Presente. ABSTRACTThe question of "to whom interests the past?" has led us to think about that knowledge produced about the past was shared beyond scientific boundaries, urging us to include new voices, sometimes dissonant ones, about what for a long time was claimed as "our" problem of research. However, while we decentralize our places of speech, we also lose the exclusive decision making over our research objects, preferential support of our thought. I intend to deal with my recent experience of sharing of interests abour the past among the Laklãnõ Xokleng, Indigenous people of Southern Brazil. Through this article, I will discuss three examples of the multiple actions and spheres in which this contemporary search for the past by the Laklãnõ Xokleng has been manifested and finally, how this archaeology of the present could be permeated by new nexus and thus engage within this social process.
