Humphry Davy e a questão da classificação do potássio e do sódio

Abstract: did not believe at first that the new substances were metals, suspecting they were hydrogen compounds. The discussions that followed illustrate the survival of ideas similar to the phlogiston theory, even in post-Lavoisierian chemistry. Thus, this case study can show chemical educators some aspects of the complexity of the construction of scientific knowledge. The incorporation of these ideas to teaching practice can lead to a science education more suited to present-day goals.
