Human papillomavirus-associated oropharyngeal cancer: a new clinical entity

Abstract: The incidence of oropharyngeal cancers is rising worldwide in both nonsmokers and nondrinkers. Epidemiology studies suggest a strong association between human papillomavirus (HPV) 16 infection, changing sexual behavior and cancer development.
