Titanium (Ti) is a biocompatible material, and calcium phosphate coating on titanium is commonly applied in order to obtain faster osseointegration around metallic implant. Osteoblast adhesion on three different Ti surfaces was evaluated. The investigated surfaces were commercially pure Ti (cp Ti), Ti coated with sodium titanate (Na-Ti), and Na-Ti followed by octacalcium phosphate coating (Ti-OCP) done by immersion in a calcium and phosphate-rich solution. The studied materials exhibited different morphology and composition. However, all the surfaces promoted cellular adhesion and showed cytocompatibility. No statistically significant difference was observed among the evaluated samples in relation to the number of cells.

ЭКСПЕРИМЕНТАЛЬНО-ТЕОРЕТИЧЕСКИЙ РАЗДЕЛРазработка новых материалов для замещения кост-ных дефектов -одно из актуальных направлений хирур-гической стоматологии и имплантологии. Основная зада-ча заключается не в простом заполнении объема костного дефекта пластическим материалом, а в возможности ак-тивного включения последнего в активный жизненный цикл реципиентных тканей, в частности костных струк-тур.В настоящее время в литературе появилось большое число сообщений о разработке новых остеопластических материалов и эффективности их применения, сообщений часто поспешных и недостаточно обоснованных в плане репрезентативности отдаленных сроков исследований, что, несомненно, вносит хаос в представления об истин-ном состоянии дел, препятствует объективной оценке по-ложительных и отрицательных свойств предлагаемых и порой широко рекламируемых биоматериалов. В боль-шинстве своем все доступные на сегодняшний день син-тетические биоматериалы являются остеокондукторами, которые представляют собой биологически инертные ма-триксы. The aim of the study was to assess the interaction of of octacalcium phosphate (OCP) with bone matrix and cells and its impact on the process of bone generation. The survey was conducted on animal model: critical hipbone defect was created in 12 230-250 g Wister rats. The animals were then divided in two groups. In group 1 (6 animals) defect was left to heal under blood clot and in group 2 (6 animals) it was filled with OCP. Three animals with no defect served as a control group. It was showed significant (p<0.05) increase of the area of the newly formed bone tissue and its direct correlation with duration of observation. Биоинженерные конструкции (с использованием морфогенетических белков) дороги, иногда их цена в не-сколько раз превышает стоимость самой операции.Из образцов кальцийфосфатной керамики сегодня отдают предпочтение метастабильным формам. К ним можно отнести октакальцийфосфат (ОКФ), которому уделяется особое внимание как в нашей стране [1, 2,10,21], так и за рубежом [17,18].В тканевой среде ОКФ более растворим и менее ста-билен, чем синтетический гидроксиапатит (ГА). ОКФ об-ладает слоистой структурой из перемежающихся гидрати-рованных и апатитных слоев.Гидролиз ОКФ в ГА -процесс термодинамически выгодный, происходит спонтанно и необратимо. С этим связано то, что ОКФ является предшественником (мета-стабильной фазой) минерализации биологических апати-тов, так как он -центр кристаллизации минеральной фракции кости и зубов.Трансформация ОКФ в ГА -один из факторов, сти-мулирующих дифференциацию остеобластных клеток [3,9,14,16].

Natural bone consists of hard nanostructured hydroxyapatite (HA) in a nanostructured protein-based soft hydrogel template (ie, mostly collagen). For this reason, nanostructured HA has been an intriguing coating material on traditionally used titanium for improving orthopedic applications. In addition, helical rosette nanotubes (HRNs), newly developed materials which form through the self-assembly process of DNA base pair building blocks in body solutions, are soft nanotubes with a helical architecture that mimics natural collagen. Thus, the objective of this in vitro study was for the fi rst time to combine the promising attributes of HRNs and nanocrystalline HA on titanium and assess osteoblast (bone-forming cell) functions. Different sizes of nanocrystalline HA were synthesized in this study through a wet chemical precipitation process following either hydrothermal treatment or sintering. Transmission electron microscopy images showed that HRNs aligned with nanocrystalline HA, which indicates a high affi nity between both components. Some of the nanocrystalline HA formed dense coatings with HRNs on titanium. More importantly, results demonstrated enhanced osteoblast adhesion on the HRN/ nanocrystalline HA-coated titanium compared with conventional uncoated titanium. Among all the HRN/nanocrystalline HA coatings tested, osteoblast adhesion was the greatest when HA nanometer particle size was the smallest. In this manner, this study demonstrated for the fi rst time that biomimetic HRN/nanocrystalline HA coatings on titanium were cytocompatible for osteoblasts and, thus, should be further studied for improving orthopedic implants.
