Human factors’ complexity measurement of human‐based station of assembly line

Abstract: Cognitive heterogeneity causes operation time variability and high human error rates at humanbased stations of assembly lines. It will affect the performance of the production activities, the design process of which depends on reliable estimate of operation time. To quantify operator cognition, we measured the human factors' complexity of human-based stations using an information entropy approach in aspect of operation time. Initially, the influence of the operators' cognition on the operation time is analyzed… Show more

“…Research shows that job demands and complexity can lead to extra work overload and stress. An increase in work complexity can finally lead to an increase in the decision-making time and process and consequently cause work stress and loss of desirable performance (Fan et al , 2018; Patriarca and Bergström, 2017). Similarly, the results of some studies have revealed that role conflict is a strong predictive variable for the emergence of work stress (Arshad et al , 2020).…”

“…Numerous studies have tailored their focus to specific contextual factors, selectively omitting others, due to their emphasis on particular aspects like personal factors, workload, or work-related stress (Fan et al, 2018;Fruggiero et al, 2018;Longo et al, 2019;Razak et al, 2008;Wang et al, 2019b). This selective approach was driven by the objective to concentrate on certain variables deemed most relevant to their specific research questions or the unique contexts of their studies.…”

“…Si se pretende reducir los errores, la reducción de la complejidad puede representar una alternativa eficaz. Por esta razón el estudio de la complejidad en el ensamblaje manual es un tema que ha ganado importancia en los últimos tiempos [13,[28][29][30] y el cual se discute con más detalles en los acápites subsiguientes.…”
