Abstract: Regeneration of the myocardium by transplantation of cardiomyocytes is an emerging therapeutic strategy. Human embryonic stem cells (HESC) form cardiomyocytes readily but until recently at low efficiency, so that preclinical studies on transplantation in animals are only just beginning.
