“…One year later the same author (Fatjo et al 2007) published another study which analysed more than doi: 10.17221/8418-VETMED 1000 aggression cases from a referral practice finding that aggression towards familiar people was the most reported primary complaint, in 39% of the cases, while aggression towards unfamiliar people occupied the third place (in almost 22% of the cases) on the list of owner's complaints. In 2013, Casey et al (2014) conducted a study with 3897 dogs in which it was found that 7% exhibited some degree of aggression towards unfamiliar people whereas only 3% did so towards familiar people. On the other hand, studies focused on dog bite occurrence found that the dog is known to the victim in most situations (De Keuster et al 2006) and is usually part of the victim's family (Rosado et al 2009).…”
