Huge cavernous hemangioma arising in a male breast

Abstract: We report a rare case of a huge cavernous hemangioma arising in a male breast. A 60-year-old man first noticed 1 x 2 cm elastic hard nodule just below his right nipple ten years previously. It enlarged 5 x 5 cm over six years. When he came to our clinic, it was size of child head (510 mm in circumference),was an elastic hard with a rather smooth surface, and firmly fixed to the chest wall. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and multidetectocomputed tomography (MDCT)showed a large mass infiltrating into the chest… Show more

“…Three cases including ours had no involvement of the ribs or deeper structure, but one case involved ribs and intercostal muscle and radical resection was performed ( Table 1). 3) Although chest cavernous hemangiomas are benign, complete resection is recommended to exclude the possibility of underlying angiosarcoma. 3) conclusIons Huge chest cavernous hemangiomas may not show a distinct enhancement in contrast CT or MRI differently from other typical cavernous hemangiomas.…”

“…Core biopsy showed endothelial lining. In some cases, where the hemangioma was big in size, a resection was performed [1][2][3][4]. As far as we could find in online scientific databases, these are the only reported cases of proven hemangiomas in the male breast.…”

“…Although hemangiomas are even more rare in men, masses measuring up to 60 mm in male breasts have been described (9,10). One article reports a hemangioma with unilateral whole breast involvement without associated calcifications (11).…”
