Introduction: The use of lead-based paint in the manufacturing process on land transportation production contributed to the decline of ambient air quality. The amount of lead level in the painting area exceeded the allowed Threshold Limit Value (TLVs). Excessive lead exposure will provoke the escalation of blood lead levels. Even in a small amount, a lead will cause cardiovascular disorder inside the human's body and raise blood pressure. The research aims to analyze the correlation between environmental factors and individual factors of industrial painters with high blood pressure. Methods: The research used a quantitative method and a cross-sectional design. It involved the whole industrial painters and administration workers at the Internal Control Division. Samples were taken from 20 workers determined using simple random sampling. Independent variables were air lead level, age, healthy family history of hypertension, nutritional status, caffeine consumption, and smoking frequency. Dependent variables were blood lead level and blood pressure. The data obtained from laboratory tests and questionnaires were analyzed using Fisher's Exact Test. Results and Discussion: Correlations were proven to exist between lead level in the work environment and lead level inside the painters’ blood (p = 0.663). Family history of hypertension (p = 0.016) and nutritional status (p = 0.031) were correlated to the Blood Lead Levels (BLLs), whereas BLLs (p = 1.000), age (p = 0.158), caffeine consumption habit (p = 1.000), and smoking frequency (p= 0.663) were not correlated to the blood pressure. Conclusion: The work environment's lead level was correlated with BLLs but did no correlate with blood pressure. Family history of hypertension and nutritional status were the individual factors that correspond with high blood pressure in industrial painters.

In industry, "benzene" is frequently employed as a basic or compound substance. Exposure to "benzene" has hematotoxic effects on blood cell values, such as pancytopenia. In cases of cytopenia that cannot be explained, a blood smear evaluation is usually employed as a confirmation test and extra diagnostic help. The purpose of this study was to see how benzene inhalation affected blood smear examination in white male rats (Rattus novergicus) of the Wistar strain. True experimental design with simply a post-test control group. A total of 20 rats were separated into four groups. The non-benzene inhalation exposure group (K-) served as the negative control. The treatment groups ("P1, P2, P3") were given benzene inhalation at concentrations of 1, 10, and 100 parts per million, respectively. The exposure lasted 28 days, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. The results were achieved by counting rat blood cells and examining their morphology under a microscope, after which an average number was calculated. Research and Discussion According to the ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test, the number of neutrophils and monocytes increased dramatically, whereas lymphocytes declined. Each group had a varied number of eosinophils, although the difference was not statistically significant. In the group exposed to 100 ppm benzene, the "Bonferoni and Mann-Whitney" post hoc test revealed a significant rise in the number of neutrophil segments and a decrease in the number of lymphocytes "(p0.05)". In the group exposed to 10 ppm benzene, there was a substantial rise in monocytes (p 0,05). The morphology of erythrocytes, leukocytes, and platelets yielded no aberrant results. Benzene inhalation exposure significantly affects the number of neutrophils segments, lymphocytes and monocytes, but has no effect on the number of other types of leukocytes. Provinsi Kepulauan Bangka Belitung merupakan kawasan penambangan timah terbesar di Indonesia yang sebagian besar penduduk bekerja sebagai penambang timah. Aktivitas penambangan menyisakan logam berat yang dapat masuk ke dalam tubuh yang berpotensi menyebabkan penyakit hipertensi dan DM. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh faktor masa kerja dan pemakaian APD terhadap penyakit hipertensi dan gejala DM pada pekerja penambangan timah di Pulau Bangka. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional, dilakukan di 3 kabupaten/kota dengan 7 (tujuh) titik penambangan, melibatkan 43 responden. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner. Variabel bebas adalah masa kerja dan pemakaian Alat Pelindung Diri (APD). Variabel terikat adalah hipertensi dan gejala DM. Hubungan antar variabel diuji dengan uji korelasi Spearman, sedangkan pengaruh antar variabel diuji menggunakan regresi logistik. Hasil: Ada hubungan yang signifikan antara variabel masa kerja dengan hipertensi (p value=0,029) dan dengan gejala DM yang dirasakan pekerja tambang (p value=0,026). Tidak ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pemakaian APD dengan kedua variabel terikat; hipertensi (p value = 1,000) dan gejala DM yang dirasakan (p value = 0,467). Variabel masa kerja berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap hipertensi (p value = 0,032), sedangkan pemakaian APD tidak berpengaruh terhadap timbulnya hipertensi. Variabel masa kerja dan jumlah APD, keduanya tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap timbulnya gejala DM. Diskusi dan Kesimpulan: Variabel yang berpengaruh terhadap hipertensi dan gejala Diabetes Mellitus pada para pekerja tambang adalah lama bekerja, sedangkan pemakaian APD tidak. Temuan lain dalam penelitian ini adalah APD yang digunakan oleh semua pekerja tambang belum sesuai dengan standar keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja. Disarankan bagi pemerintah daerah melalui dinas terkait untuk lebih memperhatikan kelengkapan dan penggunaan APD sesuai standar keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja.
