The intention to accurately predict the performance of social conflict behavior is influenced by stereotypes, social identity, and prejudice. Based on the dynamics of the relationship, this research aims to find the relationship between stereotypes, social identity, and prejudice with the intention of doing social conflict. Based on the analysis result, intentions are useful for preventing social conflict. This study used purposive sampling with the participants of 150 students in the 10th grade of State Senior High School (SMAN) 1 Belitang in East Oku Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research data were collected using a social conflict intention scale with a total of 21 items with the item determinant (rit) ranging from 0.274-0.777, a stereotypes scale with a total of 24 items ranging from 0.291 to 0.841, a social identity scale with a total of 21 items ranging from 0.290 to 0.897, and a prejudice scale with a total of 21 items ranging from 0.400. -0.796. The results of data analysis using multiple linear regression showed that the correlation coefficient of R is 0.269 with the p = 0.000 (p <0.05), which showed a significant positive relationship between stereotypes, social identity, and prejudice with the intention of social conflict. Based on the research results, the intention of a social conflict occurs because of stereotypes in which people give negative attributes or traits to other parties, social identity that causes bias to judge other groups, and prejudice that causes hostility to members of other groups. These findings can be used for conflict prevention by minimizing the intention of social conflict by changing stereotypes into positive judgment, knowing that social identity does not affect the objective judgment of other groups, and reducing prejudice so that a peaceful situation can be realized.

Studi ini membahas tentang perjumpaan budaya mahasiswa Katolik yang merantau di Kota Malang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan membagikan kuesioner melalui Google Forms. Penulis membahas tema ini dalam perspektif model antropologis menurut Stephen B. Bevans. Studi ini menemukan bahwa gegar budaya yang dialami oleh mahasiswa perantauan terhadap masyarakat di Kota Malang sebagian besar termasuk dalam kategori sedang. Hasil penelitian ini juga menemukan bahwa ada hubungan positif dan signifikan antara mahasiswa perantauan dengan masyarakat di Kota Malang. Pada umumnya masyarakat di Kota Malang akan menerima kehadiran mahasiswa perantauan yang datang. Meskipun masih ada sejumlah pandangan mahasiswa perantauan yang dikelompokkan sebagai outsider atau kelompok luar, selama ada jalinan relasi komunikasi yang baik pandangan itu akan berubah. Studi ini memberikan rekomendasi bagi mahasiswa perantauan untuk perlu meningkatkan interaksi yang lebih intens dengan masyarakat sekitar lewat dialog sehari-hari.

The General Evaluation Scale (GES) has been widely employed to assess attitudes toward outgroups, including ethnic and religious prejudice. However, validation within the Indonesian context has not been conducted. Using two studies (Study 1, religious prejudice; Study 2, ethnic prejudice), we provide evidence of psychometric properties of a six-item GES for measuring ethnic and religious prejudice based on factor structure, composite reliability, and convergent validity in Indonesia. The results demonstrate an acceptable model fit for a single-factor structure characterized by high internal consistency (McDonald’s Omega/ω = 0.93 in Study 1, ω = 0.94 in Study 2). Furthermore, the scale exhibits solid convergent validity, as evidenced by its correlations with the blatant and subtle prejudice scale (r = −0.44 in Study 1, r = −0.74 in Study 2) and the feeling thermometer scale (r = 0.60 in Study 1, r = 0.78 in Study 2). In summary, this research unequivocally establishes the GES as a valuable instrument for measuring religious and ethnic prejudice in the Indonesian context, underpinned by its robust psychometric properties. Nevertheless, it underscores the need for further investigations with diverse samples and varying social contexts to bolster the scale’s reliability and applicability.
