Contribution of School Well-being and Emotional Intelligence to Student Engagement in Learning

This study aims to analyze school well-being, emotional intelligence and student engagement in learning. The research was conducted using descriptive quantitative methods. The study population was 768 students of SMP Negeri 1 Padang and the research sample consisted of 201 students who were taken using random sampling technique. The instruments that used were arranged based on the constructs of the three variables, namely school well-being, emotional intelligence and student engagement in learning that had met the validity and reliability requirements. The research data were analyzed using simple regression and multiple regression. The findings of the study show that: (1) in average, student engagement in learning is in the high category, (2) school well-being and emotional intelligence are also in the high category, (3) the contribution of school well-being to student engagement in learning by 48.2%, (4) the contribution of emotional intelligence to student engagement in learning by 57%, and (5) the contribution of school well-being and emotional intelligence together to student engagement in learning by 62.1%. The implications of the research results can be used as a basis in the preparation of guidance and counseling service programs.

Arabization is not always identically carried out by immigrants of Arab descent, but non-Arab communities can carry out the Arabization process. This study aims to explain the Arabization process by the Jamaah Tabligh (JT) group by establishing the Kampung Madinah of Temboro Village. This study relies on collecting qualitative data through observation, interviews, and literature study with descriptive analysis. The findings show that the existence of JT in Temboro Village has resulted in a shift in community culture from secular to religious. The role of the JT leadership became an emerging factor in the Arabization process in the formation of a religious society. Likewise, JT's persuasive approach through education and religious activities facilitates public acceptance. The naming of Kampung Madinah in Temboro is driven by various Arabic symbols used, e.g., daily conversations, activities, and clothes. The existence of JT succeeds in constructing Temboro people's habits into “Islamic habits.” This study is limited to Kampung Madinah in Temboro as a research focus; therefore, it is recommended for further researchers to conduct comparative studies on the Arabization process.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kemampuan mengelola emosi siswa, perilaku agresif siswa, dan menemukan hubungan antara kemampuan mengelola emosi dan perilaku agresif siswa di SMA Negeri 5 Kota Kupang. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 5 Kota Kupang dengan jumlah populasi 1.296 orang dan sampel 93 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah teknik proportional stratified random sampling. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan instrumen skala psikologis kemampuan mengelola emosi dan angket perilaku agresif. Data tersebut dikelola menggunakan bantuan aplikasi SPSS. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) secara umum siswa memiliki kemampuan mengelola emosi dengan kategori tinggi 62 atau 67%, kategori sangat tinggi 27 atau 29% siswa, kategori rendah 4 atau 4% siswa. (2) secara umum siswa memiliki perilaku agresif dengan kategori sangat tinggi 2 atau 2% siswa, kategori tinggi 13 orang atau 14% siswa, kategori rendah 43 atau 46% siswa, kategori sangat rendah 34 atau 38% siswa. Hasil pengujian hipotesis disimpulkan bahwa menunjukkan hubungan positif yang signifikansi antara kemampuan mengelola emosi dan perilaku agresif siswa SMA Negeri 5 Kota.
