In order to evaluate the performance of new mobile network technologies, system level simulations are crucial. They aim at determining whether, and at which level predicted link level gains impact network performance. In this paper we present a MATLAB computationally efficient LTE system level simulator. The simulator is offered for free under an academic, noncommercial use license, a first to the authors' knowledge. The simulator is capable of evaluating the performance of the Downlink Shared Channel of LTE SISO and MIMO networks using Open Loop Spatial Multiplexing and Transmission Diversity transmit modes. The physical layer model is based on the postequalization SINR and provides the simulation pre-calculated "fading parameters" representing each of the individual interference terms. This structure allows the fading parameters to be pregenerated offline, vastly reducing computational complexity at run-time.

A novel scheduler is proposed which takes into account the quality of service (QoS) requirements of each active application as well as whether their sustainability is at risk at a given time. The scheduler aims to maintain an efficient use of the wireless radio resources and strives to achieve a user and application specific notion of fairness of service reception. Unlike current solutions, the scheduler differentiates between not only different users but also between applications of each user, and schedules data transmission amongst these applications so that QoS requirements for all applications are satisfied.Argela Technologie

To assess the performance of future mobile network technologies, system level simulations are crucial. They serve to identify whether, and to which amount, predicted link level performance gains are obtained in an entire network. In this paper, we present a computationally efficient link-to-system level model for system-level evaluations of multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) high-speed downlink packet access (HSDPA), including double-stream transmit antenna array (D-TxAA) as a special case. The model is based on a fairly general structure which also allows for the mapping of more than two independent streams. We base the description on the post-equalization signalto-interference-and-noise ratio (SINR) and represent it in a socalled "fading-parameter" structure, which leads to a nice split of the individual interference terms -which can be used e.g. for receiver optimization. These fading-parameters furthermore allow for a generation prior to the system level simulation itself, which reduces the computational burden significantly.
