Abstract:A Mg2.8 mass% Ca binary alloy was subjected to a homogenization treatment. The three-dimensional morphology and coherency of the Mg 2 Ca phase (with C14 structure), which precipitated in the primary ¡-Mg dendrite, were investigated for the specimens aged at 423 K. The Mg 2 Ca precipitate exhibited a hexagonal plate-like morphology, with a planar surface that is parallel to the (0001) ¡ basal plane and sides that are parallel to the {-1010} ¡ columnar plane of the ¡-Mg matrix. The coarsening Mg 2 Ca precipitate… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
