“…HD 84117 is deficient in Mn and enriched in Na and in elements of the s-process (Sr, Y, Zr, and Ba). HD 146233, proposed by Porto de Mello & da Silva (1997b) as the closest solar twin ever known at that time, is actually (as also proposed by these authors) enriched in some elements of the s-process (Sr and Ba) and possibly enriched in Sc, V, and Sm. Thus, possibly, the investigation of a larger sample of stars at a similar level of detail as done here could reveal that non-solar abundance ratios are present even for stars sharing the same place and time of birth.…”

“…However, as noted above, the bulk of synoptic observations so far have been designed to elucidate the broad behavior of cool stars, many of which are quite different from the Sun. Even 18 Sco itself is probably slightly younger than the Sun, rotates more rapidly, and has a dissimilar Li abundance (Porto de Mello & da Silva 1997;Meléndez & Ramírez 2007). These considerations and the 18 Sco photometric result force us to reconsider what we require of a "solar analog" and what observational requirements are in effect if we wish to use the stars as reliable proxies for past solar behavior.…”

“…It takes a while for the most complex molecules to form; they condense onto grains in a predictable order and finally are photodissociated and blown away . Thus one can assign specific ages to specific clouds (Bergin & Langer 1997;Pratap et al 1997). She continues to wish that somebody could manage to make the number of carbon atoms seen in different phases of the interstellar medium come out even (Greenberg 1974;Li & Greenberg 1997;Dwek 1997;Mathis 1996).…”
