HPAI H5N1 Vakalarının Kızılırmak Deltasındaki Köy Tavukçuluğuna Finansal Etkileri

Abstract: SummaryThis study was carried out to investigate the risk factors relating Highly Pathogen Avian Influenza H5N1 and to evaluate consumer demand and related economic losses for poultry raised in the Kızılırmak Delta. Data were obtained from 361 householders in the Kızılırmak Delta and surrounding rural areas of the delta where a Highly Pathogen Avian Influenza outbreak occurred in 2008. “…For instance, HPAI outbreaks can directly impact the supply side of poultry industry, causing poultry infections, deaths, and destruction implemented by authorities, which lowers poultry production [49,50]. Besides, HPAI outbreaks might impact poultry demand side, by raising consumers' risk perceptions of poultry products [51,52]. For high-risk poultry products such as live broiler, consumers may considerably reduce purchase volumes, for fear of getting infected with HPAI; and live broiler demand reduction could dramatically exceed supply reduction, thereby likely putting downward pressure on high-risk poultry prices.…”

“…In a survey about HPAI introduction into Europe by EFSA supporting publication [26] , at the period 2005-2015, the species affected by HPAI outbreaks were frequently reported as ducks, mixed ducks and geese, and undetermined species of backyard flocks; however, no data about the chicken breeds are included. Taking into consideration the consumer demand and the related economic losses of Avian Influenza outbreak [27] , we suggest that the determination of the most susceptible chicken breed, would have great impact in controlling the disease and subsequently the economic losses.…”

“…Özellikle yabani göçmen kuşlar, taşıdıkları hastalık etkenlerini gittikleri yerlerdeki kanatlılara bulaştırarak, ekonomik kayıplara neden olabilmektedirler [27] . Sulak alanların yoğun olarak bulunduğu göl ve benzeri coğrafik yerler, bulaşıcı hastalıklar ve kontaminasyon tehlikesi açısından yüksek riskli noktalar arasında gösterilmektedir.…”
