How to Make a Supernova Associated with a Gamma-ray Burst in the Collapsar Model?

Abstract

Supernovae (SNe) associated with Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) have been observed since 1998 [1]. However, the central engine of the GRB-SNe is still unknown, and there are many models proposed so far. One of the popular models for a GRB which could potentially explain the GRB-SNe is the collapsar model [2], [3]. We calculate a simple but self-consistent model for GRB-SNe within a context of the collapsar model, including an envelope, a black hole and an accretion disk, in order to understand the relation between a GRB and an SN and the mechanism of this event. In addition, to clarify the origin of diversities seen in the observed GRB-SNe, we also adopt various progenitor models. We find that some progenitor models can explain the global features of observed GRB-SNe and their diversities.
