“…An important advantage of using radiological examination, to the detriment of oral examination, is dependent on the current epidemiological context. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a decline in dental services provided for pediatric patients [ 25 ] with oral examinations performed on large samples being difficult due to strict infection control measures [ 26 ]. At the same time, periapical radiographs and bite-wing radiographs were avoided in line with the policies and recommendations issued by the competent authorities in Romania.…”

“…Dysgeusia and xerostomia (early symptoms associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection) [ 195 , 207 , 208 , 209 ], but also some oral manifestations such as tongue ulcers [ 210 ], could be related to the presence of SARS-CoV-2 invasion factors (such as ACE2 and TMPRSS2) on the taste buds and dorsal tongue [ 196 ]. Interestingly, the expression of ACE2 and TMPPRSS2 in gingival sulcular epithelium (directly linked to gingivitis or periodontitis) [ 191 ], and the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the inflammatory gingival crevicular fluid [ 211 ], raise questions on the possible role of this epithelium in SARS-CoV-2 infection.…”

“…191,192 Endocrine cells and hPSC-derived β-cells are susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection in vitro . 11,13,149,191 Interestingly, recent evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 infection might decrease insulinpositivity in β-cells driving them to degranulation and dedifferentiation in patients with severe COVID-19. 191…”
