“…We previously identified AgC10, a T. cruzi surface mucin abundantly expressed at the cell surface of epimastigotes, metacyclic trypomastigotes and amastigotes that can be released during T. cruzi infection [21], as a molecule capable of inhibiting the function of human macrophages by altering TNF and IL-12 production in response to LPS [8].
