While mastering technology and industry convergence are essential for firms across a growing number of industries, convergence is often rapid and abrupt, challenging firms to develop appropriate strategic responses. Focusing on the historical convergence between information technology and communication technology, we examine the microlevel behaviors of scientists initiating and driving convergence. Analyzing a bibliometric dataset of 257 641 scientific articles, we demonstrate how industry convergence manifests in a microlevel scientific convergence, preceding industry convergence by several decades. Our article contributes to the literature on convergence by developing new bibliometric measures for scientific convergence, and by contrasting microlevel behaviors that underpin convergence. Based on our findings, we offer a set of methods and strategies to assist managers in technology-based businesses with anticipating and responding to convergence in a timely manner.

With a constantly and rapidly increasing number of publications, modern expertise on overtourism is becoming increasingly complete. However, a subject that has not been sufficiently presented in the literature thus far is the issue of identifying groups of inhabitants of various destinations that are most severely affected by overtourism and the perception of innovative remedial solutions. In numerous previous publications that analyzed the impact of overtourism on the inhabitants of destinations, the inhabitants were most often treated as a homogeneous group. Therefore, the main goal of this article is to describe the phenomenon of overtourism from the perspective of residents of two Polish tourist destinations and propose innovative solutions to the problem of tourist overcrowding, dedicated to areas with different specificities. Empirical research was conducted among the inhabitants of popular destinations in Poland—Kraków and Białka Tatrzańska—where overtourism has been noted in the scientific literature in recent years. The results allow us to outline significant differences in how the impact of overtourism is perceived by the inhabitants of a large city and a peripheral tourist resort. Additionally, the research demonstrated that respondents who live in the central part of a tourist destination much more clearly perceive their exposure to the effects of overtourism than the inhabitants of other parts, and that this phenomenon is more evident in cities than in resorts. According to the diagnosis of the situation, it was proposed to implement open innovations in the nature of preventive solutions.

En la actualidad, las Pymes enfrentan una necesidad notable de transformar su gestión innovadora; por lo tanto, es necesario encontrar las herramientas que potencien toda su capacidad. Para impulsar nuevas prácticas de innovación con visión abierta, es fundamental que la cultura organizacional se transforme a una cultura de innovación, para que pueda adaptar nuevas estrategias y herramientas que generen un cambio de mentalidad y se visualice a las empresas como una comunidad de oportunidades, de conocimiento y crecimiento. Este estudio tiene como objetivo encontrar información que ayude a crear una propuesta de un modelo de innovación abierta, basado en la realidad de las Pymes del sector comercial de venta de partes, piezas y accesorios para vehículos. Se levantaron datos utilizando encuestas cara-a-cara a una muestra aleatoria de los locales comerciales en estudio de la ciudad de Cuenca. La información recolectada condujo a observar los resultados de una baja implementación innovadora en las PYMES de este sector y permitió identificar herramientas que se proponen como una innovación abierta para que se viabilice y direccione de una manera adecuada la información de fuentes internas y externas, para alcanzar mejores resultados que impulsen el crecimiento de las Pymes.
