Public elementary schools are currently dealing with variety of classroom concerns such as pupils’ academic difficulties, behavioral issues, social problems, and emotional difficulties. These can be resolved by providing an environment supportive to learning in classroom social dynamics. These dynamics pertain to how students, teachers, and the learning environment interact and relate to one another. These may be affected by teachers' influence and social influence. A descriptive-correlational type of research was used in this study to describe the relationship of supportive learning environment and classroom social dynamics as to teachers’ influence and social influence with 115 Grade Six pupil-respondents in five public elementary schools in San Antonio District in academic year 2022-2023. The research made-survey questionnaire was used for gathering data with some concepts adapted and modified. Pearson-Product-Moment-Correlation-Coefficient revealed that social influence in terms of conformity, expectation, compliance and obedience is significantly related to supportive learning environment as to pupils’ academic performance, engagement, self-regulation and self-resiliency. Likewise, teachers’ influence in terms of referent, expert and reward were also found significantly related to supportive learning environment. However, teachers’ legitimate influence was found to be significantly related to pupils’ engagement and self-regulation only, while teachers’ coercive influence was found out to have no relationship with a supportive learning environment.

To examine whether mothers' and fathers' individualism, collectivism and conformity values are significantly related to parenting behaviours and child adjustment during middle childhood, mothers (n = 95), fathers (n = 72) and children (n = 98) in Sweden were interviewed when children were, on average, 10 years old. Mothers' collectivism was significantly correlated with mothers' and fathers' higher expectations for children's family obligations. Fathers' collectivism was significantly correlated with mothers' and fathers' higher warmth and with fathers' higher expectations for children's family obligations. Fathers' conformity values were significantly correlated with fewer child internalising problems. Fathers' higher collectivism was associated with more paternal warmth even after taking into account the other cultural values, child gender and fathers' education. Our findings indicate that individual‐level cultural values are correlated with some aspects of parenting and child adjustment in Sweden.

This double issue of IJDS comprises three regular and one invited paper: Hellmer et al. (2021) investigate in their experimental study the reasons for individual differences in conformity in a sample of Swedish 3.5-year-olds. In addition, the authors are interested in finding out whether conformity was socialized by parents via their parental style and whether conformity is correlated with the behaviors of anonymous sharing or obedience. Gresham (2021) investigates the moderating role of coping in the relation between community violence exposure and externalizing problems (e.g. delinquent behavior, physical aggression, and substance use) in a two-wave longitudinal study with low-income, urban adolescents. Espinoza et al. (2021) investigate in their longitudinal study the reciprocal relation between discrimination, disrespect sensitivity, and aggression, and whether they vary by sex in predominantly African American adolescents. Lehmann et al. ( 2021) address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in their systematic review. They synthesize "available literature on psychosocial outcomes in schoolchildren (ages 6-13 years) who were exposed to family-related stressors during mandatory school closures." (p. 85).We very much hope that this issue reaches a wide readership. With this double issue, we also want to thank the expert reviewers for the issues of IJDS that have been published in 2021. Without their diligent efforts, we would not be able to implement a successful peer review process.
