Abstract:Salt and alkaline stresses often occur together, severely threatening
plant growth and crop yields. Salt stress induces osmotic stress, ionic
stress, and secondary stresses, such as oxidative stress. Plants under
saline-alkali stress must develop suitable mechanisms for adapting to
the combined stress. Sustained plant growth requires maintenance of ion
and pH homeostasis. In this review, we focus on the mechanisms of ion
and pH homeostasis in plant cells under saline-alkali stress, including
regulation of ion … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
