Smart contracts, leveraging the power of blockchain technology, have revolutionized the execution and enforcement of agreements. However, their adoption also brings forth substantial challenges in terms of security and privacy. This research paper aims to identify the recent areas of focus and provide a comprehensive perspective on blockchain applications and smart contracts, highlighting their main issues and corresponding solutions. Furthermore, it seeks to address the gaps in current research and outline future avenues of investigation. The primary objective is to assess the security and privacy concerns associated with smart contracts in blockchain and propose effective measures to enhance their robustness. By conducting a thorough analysis of vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and privacy considerations, this study offers valuable insights into the risks involved in smart contracts. It also puts forth practical solutions and best practices to mitigate these risks, ensuring a more secure and privacy-preserving environment for the deployment and execution of smart contracts.

We explore evolving research trends and hotspots in financial contagion through keywords co‐occurrence and co‐citation network analyses. 2,071 articles have been collected from Web of Science Core Collection database from 2005 to 2021 and been analyzed by using bibliometric methods. The results indicate a tremendous growth in research on financial contagion, especially following the Global Finance Crisis. The current research mainly focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of past financial crises and recessions, examining the network effects of banks and other important financial institutions on risk contagion, developing new systematic approaches to modelling financial contagion, and providing empirical evidences for financial contagion among various asset classes and across different countries and regions. We find that there is still no consensus regarding the causes and measures of financial contagion, however, new promising perspectives have emerged to expand research in this area. We also propose several future directions for studies on financial contagion based on the research gap identified in this review.

This research study investigates the impact of cryptocurrency on economic growth in 10 countries across Asia during past period 2013–2020. For this purpose, the sample included a range of economies with the highest number of Bitcoin usages or transactions. For this purpose, the sample included a range of economies with the highest number of Bitcoin usages or transactions, according to recent international rankings. With specific empirical means on panel data modelling, we attempted to show that economic growth, was influenced negatively by the cryptocurrency ‘Bitcoin’, and we concluded that this instrument leads to an increase in the inflation rate in a country according to the quantity theory of money and leads to a disorder in the monetary policy of a country. Our framework shows that the economic growth proxy was substantially influenced positively by economic indicators such as technology, investment and education but negatively by the high rate of participation, which caused an increase in unemployment. Our empirical results offer insights and insist on the importance of the intervention of the authorities to oversee and control the use of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin to avoid its negative effects and implement a strategy that overcomes these effects from a macroeconomic perspective.
