: Huta Tinggi Tourism Village is located in Pangulang District, Samosir District, North Sumatra. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach that employs a community-based research model that leverages community engagement to provide support, resources, and participation in the research process to produce research outcomes that benefit them. increase. The problem under study has two formulations: (1) How does Huta Tinggi Tourism Village Institute realize the application of Community Based Tourism (CBT) concept in managing sustainable tourist attractions? (2) In managing sustainable tourism destinations What are the roles of relevant stakeholders? Data sources for this study are primary and secondary data using observational, interview, documentation, and FGD (focus group discussion) data collection techniques. Data analysis uses data collection, data summation, data presentation, and inference phases. Research shows that the concept of CBT involves all stakeholders in the tourism industry, but needs to be further developed. The relevant stakeholders involved in managing destinations consist of community groups, governments and those responsible for creating sustainable management of destinations. There are still many problems to be solved, especially in environment and water management.

This study aims to determine on how the concept of community based tourism is applied in several tourist villages in West Bandung Regency. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study concept. Data collection techniques used in the study were observation, in-depth interviews, literature study and documentation. The conclusions of this study are: Cibodas Village has been running and feeling the impact of community-based tourism and can be an example for other tourist villages in West Bandung Regency. The community of Sunten Jaya Village has not been active in managing tourism activity, this village has the potential to develop community-based tourism with serious assistance and support from the government. Cihanjuang Rahayu Village also has good potential to be developed with the concept of community-based tourism but assistance is still needed to be more focused on improving accessibility and tourism support facilities. Rende Village, there are some issues that need to be addressed in this village related to tourism management, community involvement and village managers where previously there was an assistance but it did not work well. This village needs to be considered and actively assisted if it is to be developed into a tourist village.

Purpose This paper aims to provide answers to the strategic question: “What innovative strategies are needed to develop tourism in Guyana for 2025?”. It captures the essence of scholarly contributions made by experts and provides a concluding summary to WHATT theme issue on tourism in Guyana. Design/methodology/approach This paper draws from concepts, suggestions and solutions written by authors of seven proceeding papers. These authors cumulatively have valuable and diverse experience in managing, operating and teaching many key aspects of tourism industry. This paper presents summaries responding to seven questions on the following topics: understanding past tourism in Guyana; tourism policy and the path to sustainable tourism development; development of community-based tourism (CBT); impact in tourism from entrepreneurship ecosystem; strategies for boosting travel to Guyana from diasporic areas; justification for including Jonestown as part of dark tourism; and human resource development for tourism and hospitality. Findings In conclusion, a “Vision 2025 tool box for tourism in Guyana” concept is presented. Several specific recommendations related to tourism in Guyana are made. Practical implications As this paper is a combination of views from seven papers, there is no common conclusion. For further analysis, it is recommended that relevant papers of this theme issue be reviewed. Originality/value Readers who are interested in tourism in Guyana would benefit from this paper.
