“…The results on the second and third YouTubes indicated that the directions, though, were more concrete and understandable after the candidates saw a model of techniques that, although they may have discussed them within the course, had yet to become "real" to the candidates. As Graves et al (2009) note, assessing an actual classroom performance of teaching is a complex and challenging task, and although the requirements of the microteaching lesson were made clear, the relatively lower performance of the two chemistry candidates suggest that the modeling of a chemistry inquiry exemplar needs to be developed. The more abstract nature of chemistry instruction does suggest that more work needs to be done in creating exemplar YouTubes, possibly using some of the drawing techniques that have been suggested as being effective in supporting chemistry learning (Nakhleh, 2002).…”
