Do produkcji tego materiału używa się mieszaniny proszku węglika wolframu z fazą metaliczną o zawartości 6% lub 12% wag. kobaltu. Mieszaninę tę uzupełnia proszek z cBN, stanowiący 30% objętości uzyskanego kompozytu [8]. Kompozyt WCCo/cBN (BNDCC) pozostaje w fazie badań laboratoryjnych, w związku z tym jego wła-ściwości skrawne nie są jeszcze rozpoznane. Stanowiło to punkt wyjścia do przeprowadzenia badań doświadczalnych obejmujących pomiary i analizę podstawowych wielkości fizycznych podczas toczenia żeliwa sferoidalnego ostrzem z kompozytu WCCo/cBN (BNDCC). Uzyskane wyniki dostarczają istotnych informacji o przebiegu skrawania ostrzami z tego materiału, a także umożliwiają dobór efektywnych parametrów procesu.
Warunki i metodyka badańPróbki z żeliwa sferoidalnego EN-GJS-500-18 miały postać wałków o średnicy d ≈ 135÷150 mm. Skład chemiczny i właściwości żeliwa przedstawiono w tablicy I.

Do głównych zalet tego materiału należą odporność termiczna i chemiczna, dzięki którym wykonane z niego narzędzia skrawające -w przeciwieństwie do narzędzi diamentowych -nadają się do skrawania obrobionych cieplnie stali (> 50 HRC), utwardzonych żeliw oraz stopów na bazie niklu i kobaltu. Ponadto narzędzia z cBN charakteryzują się dużą wytrzymałością mechaniczną oraz odpornością na utlenianie [1]. W obróbce skrawaniem stosuje się narzędzia skrawają-ce wykonane zarówno z mieszaniny azotku boru (90% cBN) i metalicznej fazy łączącej, jak również kompozytów wytworzonych z proszków cBN, metalicznej fazy łączącej i fazy twardej z materiałów wysokotopliwych (zazwyczaj związków chemicznych tytanu) [2,3]. Według autorów pracy [4] kompozyty te można podzielić na materiały o niskiej (ok. 40÷65% obj.) oraz wysokiej (> 65% obj.) zawartości cBN. Należy podkreślić, że im większa jest zawartość fazy twardej (cBN) w kompozycie, tym staje się on twardszy, bardziej wytrzymały mechanicznie oraz odporny na kruche pękanie, zmniejsza się natomiast jego odporność termiczna i chemiczna. Liczną grupę wśród wymienionych kompozytów stanowią materiały WCCo/cBN -uzyskane metodą izostatycznego prasowania na gorąco (HIP) [5], iskrowego spiekania plazmowego (SPS) [6,7] oraz impulsowego spiekania plazmowego (PPS) [8].Badania zaprezentowane w artykule dotyczą nowoczesnego kompozytu WCCo/cBN (BNDCC -boron nitride disper-W próbkach wykonywano rowki podczas toczenia nieswobodnego ortogonalnego poprzecznego z różnymi parametrami skrawania (tabl. II), z zastosowaniem tokarki TUR 560E.
