Horologium Augusti and the Reckoning of Time

Abstract: We shortly discuss the Horologium Augusti in Rome and some literature about it. In particular, we will consider the astronomical link of this monument to the Ara Pacis, proposed by Edmund Buchner in 1976. About this link, some inconsistency had been pointed out by L. Polverini in his "Augusto e il controllo del tempo". Some recent astronomical simulations will be discussed too.
